On the 1st of December 2014, BVDIF officially became a member of the Association of Development Financing Institution in Asia and the Pacific – ADFIAP. (Website: http://www.adfiap.org).
ADFIAP is the focal point of all development banks and other financial institutions engaged in the financing of development in the Asia-Pacific region. ADFIAP was founded on the 1st of October 1976 in Manila (Philippines) based on the ideas of connecting, cooperating and supporting to advance sustainable development through its members. 38 years since its establishment, ADFIAP has been expanding its network and influence. From its 31 founding members, ADFIAP currently has 131 member-institutions in 45 countries, in which there’s one member from Vietnam – the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB). The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a Special Members of the Association. ADFIAP is also a founding member of the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions composed of regional associations in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East. ADFIAP is an NGO in consultative status with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council. The permanent Secretariat of ADFIAP is based in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
As a membership service organization, the activities of ADFIAP are diversified and geared towards members. The Association regularly organizes or co-organized workshops, seminars and training programs on topics relevant to development financing. ADFIAP also offers great opportunities for institutional visits, on-the-job training, and knowledge exchange with members and affiliates. In addition, the ADFIAP provides members access to consulting and advisory services from experts worldwide through the ADFIAP Consulting group. E-learning programs and facilities on the Internet are also easily accessible by members.
Becoming a member of ADFIAP is an important step in the operation and development of BVDIF. As a newly established state-owned financial institution, the opportunity to participate in conferences, seminars and training courses of the Association will help BVDIF to expand business network and enhance the professional capacity of staff. Simultaneously, participation in these activities will also contribute to introduce and promote BVDIF’s image, thus assist the Fund in seeking investment cooperation opportunities with other development financing institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world.
